February 2012 Field Trips - Arkansas Valley Audubon Society


Here is the schedule for the 2012 Eagle Days, as per John Koshak (DOW watchable wildlife):

Friday Evening February 3rd, Lake Pueblo State Park Eagle Day Open House - 6:30 to 8:30 PM
Eagle Day Photography Slide Show
Eagle Day Photo contest and Winners Announcement
Koshare Demonstration.
Refreshements will be served.

Saturday, Feb. 4th
Eagle Day Celebration at Lake Pueblo State Park and Wildlife Area.  All programs at Lake Pueblo State Park HQ, on the south side of the Reservoir, north of CO Hwy 96.

Program Schedule:
9:00  Pueblo Raptor Center Live Birds
10:00  Black-Footed Ferret program from Cheyenne Mt. Zoo  and then meet and greet in the tent until Noon.
11:30    Air Force Academy Flight  and meet and greet in the Atrium until 2 pm.
12:00  Flammulated Owl Presentaion – Brian Linkhart
1:00 – USFWS – Bernadette – Eagle Repository and endangered species program
2:00 - Gardening for Wildlife – Linda McMulkin  Colorado Master Gardener Program
3:00    Raptor Release – West Fishing Area – North Side of Lake Pueblo State Park (weather and circumstances permitting)

Sunday Schedule  Feburary 5th:
9:00 field trip - Meets at Pueblo State Wildlife Area just west of North Entrance to Lake Pueblo State Park.
10:30  Pueblo Greenway and Nature Center Bird Walk - Meets at Pueblo Greenway and Nature enter on the Arkansas River at Nature Center Drive
12:00 – 2 pm  Pueblo Raptor Center Open House (See the birds up close) Refreshments and Eagle Cookies
12 – 4 pm Zoo See the Eagles at the Zoo   Refreshments and Eagle Cookies
