Education
In addition to the educational monthly programs, the Arkansas Valley Audubon Society offers a variety of community outreach programs concerning environmental education. In conjunction with National Audubon Society, AVAS sponsors Audubon Adventure Kits for school classrooms. The kits consist of a bi-monthly newsletter for children between the fourth and eighth grade level which focuses on environmental and ecological issues. AVAS volunteers provide students with outdoor experience by leading bird identification field trips and give presentations at schools. AVAS also has a lending library of software programs for students to learn about global warming, forest destruction and other environmental issues. For more information contact Susan Finzel-Aldred, Education Chair at 948-4330.
