A record number of participants (30) counted 125 species. This is the second highest species total in Colorado CBC history. A high count was recorded for 26 species. An unusally high number of American Pipits were seen (212) and a high of 141 Red-tailed Hawks were tallied. Numbers of White-winged and Eurasian Collard Doves continue to increase. More Collard Doves were counted than Rock Pigeons. Grebe species were at high numbers but no loons were seen at the reservoir on count day. Other missed birds were Golden Eagle and Cedar Waxwing. The regular Yellow-bellied Sapsucker did not show up in City Park this winter. New birds to the count are Great-tailed Grackle (2) a Field Sparrow and a Sanderling. Three Black Phoebes and three Mew Gulls were among this years unusual species.
