2007 AVAS CHECKLIST OF BIRDS OF PUEBLO AND NEARBY COUNTIES NOW AVAILABLE AT NO COST

AVAS has revised its bird checklist and now has up-to-date information about all the more than 400 species birds that have been sighted in Pueblo , Fremont , Custer, Huérfano, Otero, Crowley , and Las Ánimas counties.

For each species, the checklist gives the frequency of occurrence in each of the four seasons of the year.  For example, it shows the Chipping Sparrow as common (c) for spring, summer and fall, but only accidental (x, just a few records) in winter.  As another example, the Common Loon is listed as uncommon (u) in the spring and winter, very rare (v) in the summer and fairly common (f) in the fall.

Free copies of the checklist are kept for distribution by AVAS Treasurer Mark Yaeger at the John-Deaux Gallery, 221 Union Ave. Pueblo, CO 81003.  The Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. , phone (719) 545-8407, email radeaux@hotmail.com.

Most AVAS Board members will have a few copies to distribute as well.

Mail order requests can only be honored by including a self-addressed, stamped long envelope.  AVAS reserves the right to limit the number of checklists supplied to a single individual.
