SOCOBIRDS NEWS

AVAS webmaster Tim Tucey continues to update and remodel the chapter’s website, found at <www.socobirds.org>. AVAS members can keep up with environmental news by using the many links to other sites provided by Socobirds.

Have you misplaced your paper Harrier? Not to worry if you are online since you can access the latest and previous Harriers at Socobirds.

Soon Jen Bolton, our lobbyist for Colorado Audubon at the state legislature, will write a report on the environmental bills pending in this session. Socobirds will feature her analysis on the page titled “Legislative Report.”

Webmaster Tim is entering his senior year at Cornell University. He is eager to know what AVAS members want on their website. So he can be aware of the wishes of the membership, please contact Leon Bright (urraca2@attbi.com) or Richard Tucey (rk2c@aculink.net).

Keep tabs on the Colorado Legislature vs. Nature

Colorado Audubon’s lobbyist issues alerts when we need to contact our state legislators about pending legislation. The fastest way to become involved is by receiving them directly by email. If you are online you can do so by subscribing (free) to the state Audubon listserv, CO-GENERAL. For instructions, go to <www.socobirds.org> and click on the “Legislative Reports” menu item.

JOIN THE AVAS EMAIL HOTLINE

What’s the best way to keep up on the latest events of concern to AVAS? Join the AVAS email hotline to receive occasional messages about events and ideas concerning the environment in southern Colorado.

Usually limited to a few messages a month, this is a good way to keep in contact with your chapter’s activities and concerns. It’s also a good way for AVAS members in outlying areas to communicate to our chapter’s leaders and with each other.

To sign up, email Leon Bright at <urraca2@attbi.com>.
